This exercise can help you see a constricting situation from a completely new perspective.
- Select a personal growth area or challenge you wish to focus on in this exercise. Choose something meaningful that you're looking to improve or solve but haven't found the answers to yet.
- Choose an object that captures your attention, either nearby or outside. Perhaps it’s something that feels as if it's choosing you, rather than the other way around.
- On a piece of paper, list 10 attributes of the chosen object, emphasizing sensory details as much as possible: its color, texture, sound, shape, taste, smell, surface, and size. Try to avoid making qualitative judgments (e.g., "it's a beautiful flower").
- Next to each attribute, relate what it might signify about your selected area for improvement. For instance, "the variegated colors of the flower might symbolize the diversity of skills I possess and can showcase more openly." An object's feature might reflect directly on the problem or suggest a potential solution. All interpretations are valid.
- Review your notes and summarize the insights or conclusions you've drawn from this metaphorical analysis.
